Biography

Erebus is a South African, Johannesburg based symphonic Black Death Metal band that has been in existence from 2003, with its current members joining two founding members in 2007. All members of Erebus have studied some form of creative expression, be it the study of their instruments, sound engineering, production or art. This Study and insight into how music works, and how it should be performed has enabled Erebus to create an intense sound both live and in studio, bringing a powerful energy and professional show to every event they perform at. Erebus is changing the way South African metal is perceived and performed by incorporating a full pre-recorded 34 piece synth orchestra into the live show, this of course brings a 3rd dimension that has never been heard on African shores. Erebus draws inspiration from many forms of art; but predominately from opening themselves up to an immense web of musical styles spanning from classical, jazz, latin and fusion to varied aspects of metal. This vast musical grounding allows Erebus to consistently create material that is expanding and exploring new sonic possibilities while maintaining a distinct and refined sound.
