The RiverBank School (RBS) is an independent British international Nursery and Primary school (Christian) based on the National Curriculum of England, (British Curriculum) located in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Established in February 2009, 450 pupils are enrolled at the school. The school's pupils include both Nigerians and expatriate and range in age from 3months to 11. 'The Riverbank School is only one of two British National curriculum primary schools on Victoria Island that is a member of COBIS. (The other being Corona School)'.

Academics and curriculum

The RiverBank School follows the British National Curriculum, offering education to pupils from the early years up to Year 6.

The school is divided into two sections: Early Years (Nursery and Reception) and Primary school (Year 1 to Year 6).

Early Years follow the English National Early Years Foundation Stage Programme (EYFS) for children aged between 2 and 5 years.[1]

The Primary school is based on the British National Curriculum.

  • Key Stage 1: Year 1 and Year 2 classes.
  • Key Stage 2: Year 3 to Year 6 classes.

General facilities

The school's facilities include large air-conditioned classrooms, sports arena, library, ICT suite, an auditorium, swimming pool,language and science laboratories.

Extra-curricular activities

As part of its curricular activities, RBS offers opportunities in music, dance and ballet, science fair, taekwondo/karate, swimming, debating.

Professional accreditation

The school received accreditation from Independent Schools Association (ISA) , Cambridge Associated School (Cambridge International Examination), Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). The school is a member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS),

PTF

The school has a Parent Teacher Forum open to teachers and parents. They host events like Funday, Mother's Day, Father's Day and more. Parents and their children can come in and have informative conversations with their various teachers.

Staff

The school staff consists of the senior management team, teachers, support staff, sports coordinators, nannies, nurses, IT, librarians and security guards. All teachers are educated to first degree level with many holding a masters degree. A significant member have attained a post graduate diploma in education from the UK.


Admission

For admission RBS charges a non-refundable application fee, non-refundable Developmental fee, tuition and school uniform fee, medical screening with medical insurance fee, and has an entrance examination.
