Datuk Dexter Lau is the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad (KTC), a public listed company based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Background Dexter, 43 years old, was born on 9 August 1979. He is the eldest son of Datuk Lau Kok Sing, current Managing Director of KTC and Datin Lim Su Chin. Dexter is married to Datin Yee Tsai Siew, a Federal Civil Servant serving as the Assistant Director of Hospital Queen Elizabeth II, Kota Kinabalu. They have a son and a daughter together. Datin Siew is the daughter of Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Yee Moh Chai, Chairman of Sabah Credit Corporation and Datin Seri Vicky Yee.

Education Born in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Dexter completed his primary and secondary education locally. He later spent 3 years completing Middle school in Melbourne and completed his Bachelors in Law (LLB Hons.) in University of Kent at Canterbury, the United Kingdom, before he was called to the Bar as a qualified barrister at Lincoln’s Inn, London, the United Kingdom. He returned to Sabah and was called to the Malaysian Bar, qualifying himself as an Advocate for Sabah and Sarawak in 2002.

As the eldest son and grandson of the Lau family, Dexter was welcomed into the family business of KTC in 2003. Throughout his childhood and adolescent years, Dexter developed a close bond and relationship with his late grandfather. It was the late Datuk Lau that imparted upon Dexter various traditional values, virtues and principles, which served to guide him as a strategic businessman and a righteous man that strives for success. Adopting the belief of Life Long Learning and believing in the importance to unlearn and learn every now and then, Dexter continuously enhances himself with eloquent education to renew and refresh his ideas and goals. The prestigious institutions Dexter enrolled himself to further enhance himself, include Pekking University of China and Kelloggs School of Management, University of Northwestern, as well as Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania of the USA.

Career KTC is an 84-year-old company. It was established by Dexter’s late grandfather, Datuk Lau Yeong Ching in 1938.
