VWG Associates is a full service unemployment insurance tax recovery firm. VWG Associates (www.vwgtax.com) was founded in the early 1990’s by William Villafranco. As a financial executive at the Nestle Corporation, Bill found himself at the vortex of a growing, and increasingly complex, part of the human resources business. He realized that there were a number of important areas not scrutinized by the company’s tax service provider and developed an expertise monitoring the firm’s unemployment insurance taxes and related business events.

In 1994, when Nestle relocated its HQ to Bakersfield CA, Bill formed Compensation Resources, Inc., the predecessor of VWG Associates, and dedicated himself to unemployment insurance tax recovery. This tax recovery service was a narrow but rapidly growing field that was rife with opportunities for tax recapture due to widespread errors at state agencies. By 2008, with unemployment tax payments by companies to states reaching over $30 billion, Bill enlisted the help of several senior accountants and added many Fortune 500 and other large and mid-sized companies to his growing client roster. He also re-named his company to, VWG Associates, and took the process of unemployment insurance tax payments to the various states to the forefront of proactive tax management.

Over its history, VWG Associates has worked for many differently sized companies including many with multi-billion dollar revenue streams and headcounts exceeding 30,000 employees. These companies reflect industry categories as diverse as Financial Services, Real Estate, Technology, Entertainment, Consumer Foods, Power Distribution and Retail Services.

In December of 2010 VWG Associates was acquired by Steven Steinman, a retired Wall Street Executive, and now operates out of Greenwich, Connecticut.
