Shadow Dreams is a hard rock band formed in 2007 from Auckland, New Zealand. The band consists of Jason Delrio on lead vocals, Baxter Massey on lead guitar and backing vocals, Deline Samaka on lead and rhythm guitar, Dr. Bevan Weir on bass guitar, and Jason Ridley on drums.

While Shadow Dreams is classified as hard rock, the band shows its range of sound with slower tempo songs such as "Talk to me", to a more classic metal sound with "Distance", "Legacy of Downfall" and the title track "Shadow Dreams".

Shadow Dreams was featured on the Alt_TV show "The Gun Show" which aired on 2 February 2008 in New Zealand.

Background

Baxter Massey decided to be a guitarist when he was still in high school and for the first time listened to Use Your Illusion by Guns N Roses. Massey and his high school buddy Alan bought acoustic guitars and started playing Guns N' Roses version of "Down on the farm" and at the same time started to compose music. Baxter than spent another two years playing and learning new material 7 hours a day.

While Massey was still in his old band Scarletine he started to Jam regularly on weekends with his University buddy Deline Samaka. "we'd spend hours just standin' there and makin' endlessly long guitar solos and not get bored (laughs)" says Massey . Then it wasn't till one Sunday afternoon (almost a month after leaving his old band) that Samaka showed Baxter this amazing guitar riff for this soon to be a hit song "unknown" that Massey suggested that it was time to start a new band. "I had at least ten new songs written so I went to my car pulled out these pages with lyrics and picked this song (Unknown) and started to lay free style vocals on the riff that Samaka had come up with" says Baxter. Soon they realised that this song just sounded "freakin' good" and needed to get out to the people. Massey and Samaka soon had this opportunity through The We Rock Club and went on and did a show of three songs Unknown, Talk To Me, and a cover of New Rose off the GN'R Spaghetti Incident just on two guitars. The crowd response was unbelievable.

Jason Delrio was the next to join the band, recurited for his lyrical abilities and so Massey could focus on lead guitar.
