Jason Morgan is a fictional character from the American soap opera, General Hospital, most notably portrayed by Steve Burton. The character first appeared on November 11, 1981, as a newborn child. The role was originated by Quinn Carlson from 1981 to 1982, and later portrayed by Bryan Beck from 1982 to 1986. He is the illegitimate son of Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) – the result of Alan's iconic affair with the gold digging Susan Moore (Gail Ramsey). Alan even leaves his wife Monica (Leslie Charleson) to move in with Jason and Susan. Jason is primarily raised by Susan until her murder in early 1983. Alan ultimately brings Jason into his home, and Monica, who grows to love him as her own would adopt him. In 1986, Jason is written out of the series and shipped off to boarding school.

Jason, now a teenager, is re-introduced in 1991 as the golden boy of the family opposite his black sheep half-brother A. J. (Gerald Hopkins). He has romances with Karen Wexler (Cari Shayne) and Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) and he ultimate looses his virginity to Keesha Ward (Senait Ashenafi). Jason and Keesha's romance is cut short when he suffers a traumatic brain injury in late 1995 thanks to A. J. (Billy Warlock) that leaves him with permanent brain damage and amnesia. He changes his name to Morgan, and becomes the enforcer for mobster Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and dates Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough).
