Whitley bay sharks ice hockey team, are a non checking beginner eiha registered Recreational ice hockey team.
They play out of Whitley bay ice rink, Whitley bay Tyne and Wear, England. And train midnight every Friday night.
they currently have 40 registered male and female players aged from 18 to 67.
History
The Whitley bay sharks was created in august 2013 when 9 players from the north East Nomads decided to break away from their former team and form their own.
Founder members Andrew Wallace. Patrick hoe, Emma Brown, Mitchell Turnbull, Darren grace, Chris Dixon, Andrew Daff, Jane Brown and Peter Christie. All met in the local fox hunters pub to discuss the creation of the unnamed team and what roles they would take to progress the teams future.
The team name was eventually decided when peter Christie managed to agree a deal with the shark club Newcastle, who agreed to sponsor the sharks and contributed money towards the home strip.

The team played and won their first game at whitely bay ice rink 12 October 2013 , they continued to grow and progress and gained more members for a further 10 months until June 2014, when disgruntled players decided to yet again break away and form their own team, Whitley bay lightning!
with the uprising it left the sharks with only 10 players and a bleak future.
Mitchell Turnbull and Chris Dixon made the decision to stand by the sharks and started a recruitment drive to get new players into the sport and add new members!
After a month of ups and downs the teams future was again looking bright and team membership was up to 35 members,and the sharks started playing games again.
the team has continued to grow to date and has continued to introduce new players into the sport of ice hockey.
in august 2015 Chris Dixon stepped down as team manager, and games organizer Mitchell Turnbull stepped up into the position of manager. Mitchell appointed Keith Tinnion as games organizer and Martin Honeyman as treasure.
