The X-wing is a fictional starfighter in George Lucas's science fiction saga Star Wars. The craft is generally operated by the Rebel Alliance, and first appeared in the film A New Hope in 1977. The craft was used by Luke Skywalker to destroy the Galactic Empire's first Death Star.

Description and characteristics

The X-wing is capable of traveling through hyperspace.
