The Children and Family Research Center

The Children and Family Research Center (CFRC) is an independent child welfare research center located in the School of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It was created in 1996 as a joint effort between the School of Social Work and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. CFRC was created, in part, in response to a class action lawsuit filed against the state of Illinois and the Department of Children and Family Services alleging that the state was failing its obligations to foster children[1].
