The Muslim Brotherhood organization and Indonesia had a long history of relations, the Muslim Brotherhood first entered into the Indonesian society is in the 1930s, during Dutch colonial rule, where the ideas and the teachings of the organization was brought by Muslim Hajj pilgrims. Relations between the Muslim Brotherhood and Indonesia was established after Indonesian delegations led by Agus Salim flew to Egypt to sought for diplomatic recognition of Indonesian independence. In the same year, the founder of Muslim Brotherhood, Hasan al-Banna visited Indonesia in 1947, he went to Yogyakarta to meet with several Muslim figures such as Agus Salim, Sutan Sjahrir, and Nazir Sutan Pamuncak, personal meetings between the Muslim Brotherhood representatives and Indonesian national figures would later establish a closer tie between Indonesia and the Muslim Brotherhood.
