Vision

Mission

The University Libraries guided by its principles as a dynamic force in providing quality service for the information search of its users commit to:

2. Train and develop staff who are excellent in the library profession to guide the users in their information search.

Goals

General Objective

The University Libraries aim to assist the administration in the promotion of academic programs of the University, its clienteles in their library research and instruction in line with the vision, mission and goals of the University.  

Specific Objectives

1. Select and acquire books, periodicals, and non-print materials which serve as tools of instruction, research and learning in the subject areas covered by the curriculum.

2. Prepare and organize these materials to make them accessible to the clienteles.

3. Assist readers on the use of these materials through circulation and reference services.

4. Make an information drive on resources of the library through orientation programs.

5. Develop an intelligent and independent use of these materials in cooperation with the faculty.

6. Accommodate outside researchers in line with the services of the school to the community.

7. Plan and organize activities which are relevant to the library’s vision and mission.

Mondays – Fridays 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Saturdays 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Guidelines and Policies

1. The I.D. card is non-transferable. Students caught using the I.D. card of another will have the item confiscated and submitted to the POM/POW for proper action.

2. Since the library adopts the “NO ID, NO BORROWING POLICY”, the school ID card is required when borrowing library materials.

3. Mutilation/stealing of books are strictly prohibited. So that the rights of others may be protected, readers who underline words, deface, write, cut or otherwise mutilate or steal a book will be assessed the full cost involved in replacing the damages or stolen book and/or suspension or denial to use the library facilities of a certain period or even for the rest of the term.

4. Books for overnight reading are to be issued from 3:00pm to 6:00pm only and to be returned the following day the library is open not later than 12:00pm otherwise, overdue fine will be charged. During Saturdays, borrowing of books for overnight shall start from 9:00am to 6:00pm. For those who borrow books during Saturdays, and in some cases when classes will be suspended the following day, the user must return it the next day when office/classes will resume.

Who may avail of the services?

  1. Bonafide students, faculty members, administration, and personnel of the universityStudent of other institution of higher learning which the library is in consortium
  2. The Alumni of the university who is an active member
  3. Other users within the locality provided that they would pay the prescribed library fee at the accounting office.

Loaning Privileges

Undergraduate students may borrow three (3) books at a time.

  • A Date Due Card is not already issued when borrowing a book. Just wait for your receipt and present the book and the receipt to the LWS in-charge at the entrance.

Borrowing Procedure

General Reference and ARC Books

1. Consult the OPAC(Online Public Access Catalog)

2. If it is available, present your ID Card to the LWS Library working student-in-duty/ General Reference and ARC-in-charge for the processing of the said material in the Follett Database.

3. If the material is available, copy the call number of the material:

4. Give the ID in LWS-in-duty/General reference and ARC-in-charge.

Room use/For Photocopy Procedure

  1. For those who will take out the book for photocopy, a photocopy slip should be presented to the LWS in-charge at the exit for verification purposes.
  2. All books to be borrowed for room use or for photo-duplication must be properly processed at the LWS-in-duty using the current ID card.

What are the materials that cannot be photocopied?

  1. All the materials are can be photocopy in the General Reference and ARC Section but this materials is for room use only.

Rules in photocopy

  1. Users who would like to photo-duplicate a book are given 30 minutes grace period after which, an overdue fine will be charged. (P 1.00 per minute)

Job Description

The Reference Librarian is responsible for maintaining the Reference collection files and other pertinent documents. As such she shall be responsible in assisting library users in their information search and make known to the clients the new schemes or procedures in borrowing or returning books including the implementation of new policies approved by higher authorities. S/he shall report to the College Librarian matters concerning his/her section. As reference librarian, s/he update him/herself about the latest development in all fields as the nature of his/her work requires it. S/he should also establish linkage with other libraries where s/he can refer library users to find the information they need. S/he shall maintain the INFO ZONE to provide information which is not known to the library users.

Specific Duties

1. Identifies library materials for reclassification.

2. Indexes and abstract reference materials.

3. Monitor and maintains the Reference Collection a. Prepares a list of materials for repair. b. Prepares a list of books to be discarded from the section. c. Assist in the conduct of inventory of books or materials to identify and trace materials that are missing, lost or not returned, examines those to be replaced, discarded or place in storage based on established guidelines.

4. Assist in the library instruction and information program to all users. a. Assist in the Library Orientation for freshman students at the start of the school year. b. Explains or inform library users of policies, guidelines, new procedures, new acquisition, and other services of the library. c. Provides assistance or guidelines through directions, suggestions, instructions to users in making effective library use. d. Prepares and distributes reading list of Reference materials to users. e. Promotes library resources through bulletin boards.

5. Performs supervisory function over the library working scholars. a. Trains, instruct and delegates work assignments. b. Checks and monitors attendance, reporting time and performance as well as academic performance. c. Evaluates performances at the end of the semester to be submitted to the College Librarian for recommendation.

6. Performs administrative functions. a. Provide collection analyses for accreditation and other request of faculties and outside agencies such as CHED, PAASCU and the like. b. Implements library rules and regulation. c. Coordinate to the College Librarian on matters affecting general operations of its section. d. Issues library materials for faculty and administrative personnel. e. Prepares and submits statistics for evaluation purposes. f. Attends seminars, conferences and trainings upon the recommendation of the college librarian who endorses the request to the Directory of Libraries for further recommendation. g. Assist in the conduct of various library activities.

7. Takes charge on the Info Zone bulletin board and other bulletin boards as a form of Reader’s Advisory Service.

8. Adheres to the policies of the University.

9. Performs good housekeeping and maintenance of the section.

10. Practices safety in the work place.

11. Recommends and suggest improvements on areas of concern.

12. Participates in the university activities whenever possible.

13. Assist other staff whenever needed.

14. Performs such other duties as deemed necessary.
