A list of episodes from the British television series Van der Valk featuring the cases of a Dutch police detective which first aired on ITV between 1972 and 1992 in five separate series consisting of 32 episodes.

A teacher comes to the police to confess that he has shot dead his wife after walking in on her committing adultery. This causes a great deal of confusion as it soon becomes clear the man's wife is still alive. Van der Valk considers that he may be mentally unstable but the man's doctor insists that is not the case. They consider charging him with wasting police time, but Van der Valk realises that the man is living in the past and begins to understand that the case is connected to a murder that occurred back in 1965. The police receive a warning of an "execution" at an upcoming classical music festival featuring a celebrated violinist, Jan Servaas. Van der Valk is initially dismissive of such a threat, and refuses to place protection on Servaas. When his valuable violin is smashed, Servaas is driven to cancel the concert. He is then pushed to his death out of a window. Van der Valk begins making enquiries amongst the staff at the hotel he had been staying, and searching out a possible connection with the maestro's hometown of Limbourg and the wartime Resistance movement that operated there. A Dutch-born German far-right newspaper editor arrives in Amsterdam and has received a number of threats concerning his daughter, who has disappeared two weeks ago, demanding a ransom. Van der Valk is irritated by the cold journalist and his neurotic American wife, but feels a deep sense of unease when their daughter is found dead. She has died from an accidental overdose of alcohol and pills, and appears to have been involved with the ransom attempt with a number of her counterculture friends in the hope of extracting money from her parents. Van der Valk then uncovers a secret that the journalist had been hiding from his formative years in Twente. Features Michael Sheard, Lillias Walker, Martin Wyldeck, Damien Thomas and Maria O'Brien.

Van der Valk is irritated to have to testify to anti-corruption body, and is pleased when a murder case pops up. A well-dressed body is fished out of a canal in Amsterdam. He turns out to be Peter Hackforth a well-connected Englishman who is the son of a Member of Parliament much to the displeasure of Samsun who has a dislike of the overbearing British. She turns up to identify the body, but denies that it is her son. Despite this Van der Valk continues with the investigation, and discovers her son was a promiscuous bisexual and begins searching for information about him in the gay scene. Van der Valk is irascible because he has given up smoking cigars. His mood is not helped by a mysterious case in which a Lebanese man is killed in a car accident, and is found carrying a gun and a press cutting about Wolf Gebhardt, a German who has taken up work as an apprentice stonemason. Gebhardt proves uncooperative and insists he knows nothing about the matter. Van der Valk suspects he may be a war criminal, but wonders why Arabs would be seeking vengeance on him. It soon becomes apparent that Gebhardt is not who he claims to be. Features Paul Eddington, Harold Goldblatt, Norman Scace, Roger Bizley, William Ellis, Christopher Matthews and Helena McCarthy.

A private detective is found murdered in a flat in a poor suburb of Amsterdam, where had been spying on a young couple who live in a nearby apartment. The male is a cinema Projectionist and the female is a university dropout. Van der Valk discovers the detective had been hired by her father, a policeman in rural Zeeland, who blames the young man for leading his daughter astray and was hoping to unearth a drugs connection. The father insists to Van der Valk that the young man must be the murderer, but Van der Valk is unconvinced and seeks out another motive and culprit. An American woman arrives in Amsterdam expecting to meet a young Dutch man she had previously encountered but he has seemingly disappeared. Through a friend, she seeks the help of Van der Valk to locate the missing young man. He swiftly discovers that the young man is a Romeo living off ladies of a certain age, who has most likely moved on through boredom. When Ko then reappears, the case seems closed. However Van der Valk's curiosity has been aroused and he learns that Ko has a criminal record and may be responsible for strangling a woman in Paris. Van der Valk's attempts to warn off the American woman prove unsuccessful. Features Lisa Daniely, Shane Briant, Peter Blythe, John Bailey, Ronald Leigh-Hunt and Donald Morley.

Van der Valk is about to leave for a weekend away with his family when he is called to an incident. A man is nearly killed in a deliberate explosion at a works depot. The victim refuses to tell Van der Valk anything about it, insisting it was an accident and has clearly been threatened into silence. He suspects that Yugoslav guest workers are connected to the crime. His attempts to gain information from the community prove difficult, as they are wary of and hostile to the police. With witnesses "got at", Van der Valk attempts to get to know more about the Yugoslav migrants in order to gain insight into the case. During an operation to catch people passed forged cheques Van der Valk runs across "Amsterdam's best known cheque forger" and his young female accomplice. The man is disguised, and claims he has gone straight and is rehearsing for a theatre role. Meanwhile a leading public prosecutor has disappeared ahead of a major trial. Van der Valk comes to believe that the two cases are connected. After a largely fruitless search for the -----, he discovers that the prosecutor has fled to the country Features Freddie Jones, Hildegard Neil, Patrick Troughton, Hubert Rees, William Russell and Mary Healey.

Van der Valk is intrigued when a destitute man living on an abandoned run-down boat, begins spending large sums of money in Amsterdam. The man will at first not say where the money came from, but eventually admits to having found and forced a strongbox by the canal. The man who discovered the box with him has disappeared. Van der Valk begins a search for the missing man, who he eventually discovers to be the servant of the bugermeister of Amsterdam.

Two young hooligans who live at the Tulip Tree youth club begin to commit increasingly serious crimes. Locals want the club closed down, but Van der Valk believes it is better open - as it is easier to keep an eye on its inhabitants that way. When the two young men rob a tobacconist and try to burgle a safe, things become more serious. One of them is also now armed after coshing a policeman and stealing his gun. During an argument, he murders his accomplice, and goes on the run - now in possession with information with which to blackmail a prominent public figure. After his wife buys a fur coat at a suspiciously discounted price, Van Der Valk investigates the seller. He believes she is part of a wider network, robbing lorries and warehouses of goods. He traces a link to her contact, and poses as a criminal looking to offload a bunch of stolen watches. He meets with some senior members of the organisation, once he has gained their trust, and tempts them with talk of a 2 million guilder diamond deal. By this point Samsun wants to pull in the criminals, but Van Der Valk is convinced there is still a shadow figure at the top of the tree and remains undercover. Unfortunately, the boss of the organisation unmasks Van der Valk and plans to kill him. An artist is found dead in his apartment, which is filled with forged masterpieces. The police struggle to discover much about the man, who has kept himself to himself. He has been commissioned to do a series of copies of paintings for a gallery owner. After tracking down an Australian art dealer, Van der Valk comes to suspect that the copies are an elaborate way of selling stolen masterpieces with authentic papers of provenance. Van der Valk goes with his wife for a weekend's holiday in London. On the plane the man sitting near him dies in mysterious circumstances, apparently on his way to meet some British criminals. At Heathrow Airport Van der Valk is ordered by phone by his superiors to liase with the Metropolitan Police, as the deceased was a Dutch national killed on a Dutch plane. When a second death occurs, in London, of another passenger on the plane - Van Der Valk works with his British colleagues to determine the exact motives behind the murder. His wife, meanwhile, is angry that the murder has wrecked their holiday but still manages to lend him a hand with the case.
