The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), is a think tank that is under the auspices of the State Council of the People's Republic of China with historical origins in the Academia Sinica during the Republic of China era.[citation needed]

The three major positions proposed by the Communist Party of China for the Academy are: a strong position of Marxism, the highest palace of Chinese philosophy and social sciences, and an important think tank and think tank of the Party Central Committee and the State Council.[1]

The predecessor of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences established in 1955.[2]

Structure[edit]

CASS currently has over 3,200 resident scholars. As of November 2020, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has 6 university departments, 42 research institutes, 6 functional departments, 5 directly affiliated institutions, and 3 directly affiliated companies. [3]Of its functional departments, five are focused on research.[4]

Predecessor[edit]

The China Social Sciences Publishing House was established on 14 June 1978 under the auspices of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.[5]

Publish

As of June 27, 2011, the Chinese Academy of Sciences has translated 2787 books, published 4293 academic works, 7268 survey reports and research reports, 16108 translated papers, and 54517 scientific papers.Famous published books :"National History Atlas of the People's Republic of China", "History of Eastern Philosophy", "New Popular Philosophy", "A Concise World History Reader", "Sanskrit Buddhist Scripture Reader", "Research Project of Academic History of Foreign Literature".[6]
