The Godfrey Okoye University (GO University) was founded in 2009 by Very Reverend Father Professor Dr. Christian Anieke for the Catholic Diocese of Enugu. The university, which got its operational licence on 3 November 2009 from the National Universities Commission, belongs to the Catholic Diocese of Enugu in Nigeria. It is the first university owned by a Catholic Diocese in Africa.

The philosophy of the university is based on the nature of the human person as a social being, as a dialogue-seeking being. From this point of view, Godfrey Okoye University understands education as a dialogical process of acquisition and dissemination of knowledge.

Mission

In the light of the philosophy of the university, its mission is to impart quality education aimed at inculcating in the students strong personality that will ensure the promotion of religious, cultural and epistemological dialogue.
