Dave Watson is a freerider known for his jump [1]during the Alpe d'Huez stage of the 2003 Tour de France, which earned him the Alternative Sports Personality of the Year award from England's The Guardian. He was also featured in Sports Illustrated, Rolling Stone and FHM. In 2003, Watson was a member of the Kona Clump Team, considered a progressive squad in cycling, which performs demonstrations of their expertise. It's members have included John Cowan, Robbie Bourdon, Carlin Dunne and Paul Basagoitia. Watson grew up in British Columbia's North Shore. He turned professional in 1996 at the age of nineteen and finished 5th in the Downhill Finals in Hawaii a few months later. He has appeared in several mountain-biking films including the New World Disorder series' Fat Tire Fury in 2001 and Ride the Lightning in 2004.
