Modou Lamin Age-Almusaf Sowe (born January 7, 1990) is a Gambian-American writer, playwright, and poet.

Sowe is the author of the play, The Throne of The Ghost (2016).

Personal life and education

Sowe was born in Bakau, The Gambia, to Gambian parents, and is the first born of his father and late mother. His emergence as a new West African writer and scholar, and his growing international stature culminated in his play, The Throne of the Ghost ( ISBN9789789497133), published in USA in 2016 by Malthouse Press Limited, and distributed by the African Books Collective. Following this, Modou gained both national and international respect, and was elevated to the status of a much respected young African writer. He was named the Youth Secretary and Voluntary Assistant of the Collecting Society of The Gambia ( CSG), assisting the grey-haired author, Mr. Salifu Kujabi and famous Gambian composer, Dr. Oliver Mboge. Mr. Sowe was also the Secretary of the Association of the Creative Industries under the tutelage of Mr. Sheikh Omar Jallow, the Director of Fine and Performing Arts. He has worked with Mr. Hassoum Ceesay, the Historian , author and Director of Copyright and Cultural Heritage at the National Museum and National Center for Arts and Culture ( NCAC). Modou Lamin Age-Almusaf Sowe played a major role in the rise of aspiring young writers in the Gambia, and the bringing to an end to the era of dictator Yahya Ajj Jammeh. For his film, BABILI-MANSA. He is as well published in USA in 2016, by Malthouse Press Ltd and their distributors, the African Books Collective ( ABC). His paper, (How Culture and Environment Can Influence One's Life) is currently use at the University of Kenya and other parts of the world as a research material. His brave speeches, mature type of leadership and tireless non-violent attempts, with creativity played a significant role in Gambian literature and publication as the first young Gambian to be internationally published at age 26. Age-Almusaf Sowe has written for several causes including the fight against the creation of a New World Order, democracy, culture , religion, early marriage , FGM, philosophy , poverty, trabalism, sexism, etc.

Career

Modou Lamin Age-Almusaf Sowe (1990) was born in Bakau Newtown, The Gambia, West Africa. He's an emerging West African writer and a scholar. He's a renowned playwright, a poet, novelist, short story writer, blogger, and teacher-librarian. Sowe is the founder of the Young Writers' Association of the Gambia (YWAG) and former Secretary General of the Writers' Association of the Gambia (WAG). Author of Don't Judge The Book By The Cover, AfriKa Not AfriCa, The Throne of The Ghost and The Memories of Reflection. Modou started writing at the age of 14, and won the prize for Best Young Gambian Writer of The Year 2019 and is the WAG Laureate for Children's Literature 2019. Modou was featured in TWAWEZA, an anthology of 24 African Non-Fiction Stories published by the African Writers Development Trust (AWDT) during the PenPen African Writers Residency.
