Khan was born on 1964 in Shahjahanpur, Dhaka. He acquired both his Master's degree Institute Of Business Administration, University of Dhaka and achieved CMA certification from Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh in 1989

Arif Khan started his career in 1991, and over the past years, Mr. Khan had played pivotal role in the lives of a number of private companies, where he worked in different capacities starting from Probationary Officer to CEO and also in public sector as a Commissioner of Securities Exchange Commission.

Career

Arif Khan started his career at Arab Bangladesh Bank as a probationary officer in May 1991 and worked for 2 years there. After that he looked after sales operations of Sylhet for British American Tobacco Bangladesh for a short period.

During his Masters, he got an opportunity to work for Beximco where he worked for 2 more years.

After that, he joined IDLC Finance Limited as an Assistant Manager and gradually climbed his way up as the Chief Financial Officer. He left IDLC in 2010 as a Deputy Managing Director and joined Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) as a Commissioner in May 30, 2011

During his tenure at BSEC, he was in charge of Stock Exchange Demutualisation Project

He was the first President of Bangladesh Merchant Banker's Association (BMBA) and Founding President CFA Society Bangladesh

He was also the president of Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB)

Arif Khan started Emerging Corporate Division in IDLC (now known as the SME division), which now counts up to 46% of the total operation of the company.

He also started Personal Investment Division (PID) in IDLC which is now known as consumer division and accounts for around 32% of the company


Education

Arif Khan had his primary schooling at a government primary school. After class five, he moved to Comilla Residential Model School

He finished his SSC examination in 1981.

He enrolled in the Masters program at the University of Dhaka and had joined ICMAB to pursue a CMA certification, a professional accounting degree; He completed both of them in 1989.

Personal Philosophy

Mr. Khan believes that a team should be as much as a part of decision making as the governing body. He is here to guide and inspire them. He believes team is the most important component of any company. He wants to empower his colleagues. He loves to celebrate successes and don’t let failures dishearten him or the team.
