Welcome to my page, a work in progress. I have been contributing to Wikipedia since March 2007 and I've been away for almost a year, so I figured that if I want to come back and contribute again I might as well create a user page. To give other users a better understanding of my edits, I want to explain who I am and my perspective on life. My name is Kate and I was born in 1982. I grew up in New York City (East 65th street to be exact) and attended public magnet schools (the ones for gifted students). Through middle and high school I balanced my school work with life in the fast lane. It was the roaring 90s for New York City teens. In college I got involved with a sorority and the theater as well as environmental and pro-Israel causes. I have always been an avid reader (comic books too) and one of the few true New Yorkers to prefer West Coast hip hop to the local NYC stuff (I'm also into glam rock).

Although I consider myself a feminist, I am a member of the Republican Party, voted for George W. Bush in 2004 and John McCain in 2008, although Rudy Giuliani was my candidate. I have mixed feelings about the War on Terror but hope that the United States and/or Israel prevents Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

As a student of history I am fascinated by many of the current New World Order conspiracy theories floating around the internet, but skeptical about most of them. I think that many of these theories are used to unjustly malign Israel, which I find ironic because the most passionate Zionists I've ever met buy into many of the New World Order theories. I recommend Jon Ronson's book Them: Adventures with Extremists to anyone interested in learning about the subject.

I love to read and travel the world. My current favorite television shows are Mad Men, Gossip Girl, 30 Rock, Law & Order, Heroes, Entourage, and Fringe. You can find me enjoying whats left of Manhattan's nightlife or lying in Central Park reading a good book, when weather permits.
