Edelweiss (エーデルワイス, Eederuwaisu) is a Japanese adult visual novel developed by Overdrive. It has been released as a PC game for DVD-ROM on December 15, 2006. On July 10, 2008 the visual novel was translated into English by MangaGamer. A fan disc for Edelweiss by Overdrive was later released.
The gameplay in Edelweiss follows a semi-predetermined plot; major events are the same, however, as the game progresses the storylines diverges quite dramatically. The game focuses mostly on the five female classmates with the main goal of making available sexual images that the player can view at any time depicting the protagonist having sexual intercourse with one of the girls. In addition, other related pictures are also unlocked.
Edelweiss is a story centering around the teenager Kazushi as he attends a formerly all female school of alchemy on an isolated island. While attending school, hidden mystery's surrounding the island slowly emerge while he gets closer to his classmates.

Release information
On December 15, 2006 Overdrive released Edelweiss for PC DVD-ROM.[1] Overdrive also released a fan disc for the game on August 29, 2008 titled Edelweiss Eiden Fantasia (エーデルワイス 詠伝ファンタジア, Eederuwaisu Eiden Fantajia).[2]
On August 10, 2008 MangaGamer released an English translated version exclusively for download equipped with DRM.[1][3] MangaGamer also released the fan disc, Edelweiss Eiden Fantasia, on March 20, 2010.[4]
Related media
Edelweiss has had several CDs have been released based on the visual novel. A soundtrack of the game's music released titled Edelweiss Original Soundtrack featuring fourteen tracks.[5] A drama CD titled Edelweiss: Eidenjima Pollen War (「エーデルワイス」 詠伝島花粉大戦争) on February 7, 2002. [6]

Jason Young of Gaming Target gives the English translation of Edelwiess a 7.1 / 10 citing the overall higher presentation quality of the game such as lip-synching and color usage in the artwork. However, Young notes the English translation has a lot of troubles, but has improved since an initial presentation several months prior; accoding to Young the translation does not make the visual novel unplayable, however it is very distracting.[7]
