Jharia Mail was an English newspaper, which was published from Jharia. Seth Khora Ramji, a pioneering coal miner from town started publishing it in the year in 1921. His newspaper wrote strongly against British authorities and was known to publish firebrand articles igniting patriotism and in support of India independence activities.[1]

Natwarlal Jethwa of Calcutta in his book writes that Seth Khora Ramji was one of earliest independence activist from the Manbhum region and he thought of starting newspaper Jharia Mail to raise their voice against British rule in India.[1] These were years when following Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919 there was lot of anguish against British. In 1920 Mahatma Gandhi gave a call of Non-cooperation movement. and when on 5th February, 1921 Gandhi paid a brief and his visit to Jharia, he delivered a speech to a crowd of coal mine labors. He also met Gujarati mines owners, whose association at that time was headed by Seth Khora Ramji.[1] At behest of Seth Khora Ramji, large amount of money was collected handed over to Gandhiji for aiding publication of the Young India and funding of independence movement.[1]
