JESSE JONES, SR (October 10, 1952 -)

Jesse Jones is an American Renaissance Man. An Air Force Veteran, Public School Educator, Musician, Public Speaker and Pharmaceutical Salesman.

BIOGRAPHY:

Jones was born in Flora, Mississippi to parents of sharecroppers. At two years old, his family moved to Belzoni, Mississippi where he grew up a curious child of nature and music. As a young child, Jones worked the cotton fields with his parents and siblings. Jones suffered from asthma as child and was limited in his activities to play with other childrens. But he continued to be a child that was interested in learning, writing and math by reading and studing everything he could get his hands on. He was an excellent student in school and was selected with two other Black students from Mississippi Delta to intergrate and attend the prestigious rich Edgemont and Scarsdale High Schools in Scarsdale, New York. Jones participated in track and field at Edgemont High School where he lettered. He also started in the Edgemont high school play by Neil Simon's "Sweet Charity." One of Jones' friend who started in the play was Peter Scolari of TV series "Bossom Buddies" and other motion pictures credits. Jones played the Sammy Davis part "Big Daddy" of the "Rhythm of Life Church" in the Sweet Charity Play. He graduated in 1973 and attended Baldwin Wallce College in Berea, Ohio.

In the same year 1974, Jones left college and later entered the US Air Force where again disguished himself by being selected to President Jimmy Carter's Military Board on Military Pay. Jones graduated with a BS degree in Special Education and a Master degree in Education Administration from Texas State University. After spending four years in the Air Force he taught at the public school and community college and at present he is finishing up a PHD in Education Leadership. Jones was elected the the Northside Independent District Board of Trustees. After his education career, Jones entered the corporate world working in pharmaceutical sales.

Senior Virology Representative (February 2006 – Present)

Responsible for the promotion of Bristol-Myers Squibb’s Virology products to infectious disease physicians who treats patients infected with HIV/AIDS. My area of responsibility includes San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley marketplaces.

Responsible for the promotion of Bristol-Myers Squibb’s CV/Met products to cardiologists, neurologist, endocrinologist, and internists that treat patients with cardiovascular/diabetic diseases, which include San Antonio and Austin marketplaces.

Glaxo Pharmaceuticals

Executive Sales Representative (November 1990 – July 1997)

Responsible for promotion of Glaxo’s antibiotics and respiratory pharmaceuticals to both physicians and pharmacists in hospital and retail marketplaces in the Southeast San Antonio Territory, which include Del Rio and Laredo, Texas.

Marion Merrell Dow

Medical Sales Representative (June 1985 – November 1990)

Responsible for promotion of Marion Merrell Dow OTC and prescription pharmaceuticals to both physicians and hospitals in the South Texas marketplaces, which include Corpus Christi, Laredo, and Del Rio, Texas.
