I made this wishlist for video games.

Fourth Generation

SNES

I've played SNES games more than games on any other console. And it's not hard to see why.

Beaten (SNES cart)

  • ActRaiser 2 - Music is good but depressing. Game is really hard. Took forever back in the day.
  • Bahamut Lagoon - The music, the dragons, and the dreamy world. The heroine sucks and the silent protagonist was done poorly. But just about everything else was good. This game hasn't aged well, and it could use an updated remake. Hey Squeenix, are you listening?
  • EarthBound - Fun, and very real world-y.
  • Final Fantasy IV - I've played this more than I've played any other game. And now that I started the PSP version, I highly doubt that will change.
  • Final Fantasy V - I didn't know this existed until I discovered ROM hacks on the internet. Back in 2002 or 2003. That seems like forever ago. Over 10 years later, it's still a great game.
  • Final Fantasy VI - Words can't describe this game's awesomeness.
  • Killer Instinct - More fun than Mortal Kombat.
  • Lufia and the Fortress of Doom - Fun, funny, and all around awesome.
  • Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals - The puzzles were a bit much, but this game had the best dialogue I've ever seen in an RPG.
  • Mortal Kombat - I had a lot of fun with it, but it didn't have most of the good characters in later series.
  • R-Type III: The Third Lightning - Hard and fun. Too bad you couldn't save.
  • Road Riot 4WD - I got this because it was on the sale rack at Acme, around 1999. Remember Acme supermarkets? Me neither.
  • SimCity - Boring.
  • SimCity 2000 - I wanted a city building game. At the time, I couldn't get ahold of SimCity 3000.
  • Super Godzilla - It was fun. But it gave me the creeps sometimes.
  • Super Mario Kart - It was absolutely brutal, especially when the computer cheats like crazy and you're not allowed any slack whatsoever.
  • Super Mario World - Nothing left to say about this game, really. It was and still is awesome.
  • Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - This came with the SNES I bought. I still play it. The unique art style will withstand the test of time.
  • Tales of Phantasia - I played it soon after the DeJap translation came out.
  • Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose! - Got it at a yard sale. It was pretty good for a few bucks.
  • Wheel of Fortune Deluxe - Boring, but I didn't get many opportunities to buy games. So I got this one.

Played (SNES cart)

  • Aladdin - Fun, but I lost interest because I was occupied with other stuff. I'd like to play again.
  • Bugs Bunny Rabbit Rampage - I vaguely remember this.
  • Chrono Trigger - I don't know why, but this game just didn't appeal to me.
  • F-Zero - I need to try it some more.
  • Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - I liked it at first, but I got stuck at some part and sort of gave up.
  • Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War - I played through the first chapter just to see what it was like. I'll make time for it someday.
  • Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 - I played through the first chapter just to see what it was like. I'll make time for it someday.
  • Goof Troop - I played it because one of the neighbor kids had it. It was a lot of fun.
  • Gradius III - It gave me the creeps and I couldn't finish it because of that. It doesn't have the charm that R-Type III has.
  • Harvest Moon - I was bored out of my mind, so I switched to Friends of Mineral Town.
  • Home Alone 2: Lost in New York - Played it because some other kid had it.
  • The Jungle Book - I don't remember it much. Found it in passing, and forgot about it.
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - I know, I need to play this game. I was experimenting with the ZSNES emulator in summer 2001 (never tried emulation before), and failed hard. This was the only game I tried. Eventually I switched to SNES9x and played the Final Fantasy games. Never looked back on this title :(
  • Mario Paint - Tried it because it was a novelty title. I honestly don't see the appeal.
  • Mortal Kombat II - Barely played it.
  • Pink Goes To Hollywood - My 8 year old self couldn't figure out how to play this.
  • Spider-Man and the X-Men in Arcade's Revenge -
  • Star Ocean - I downloaded this when the DeJap translation first came out. I failed hard, and emulators weren't good enough to handle it.
  • Super Mario All-Stars - Those were good times.
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - I gave up where you're supposed to talk to Frogfucius before getting Peach. There's supposed to be some event flag that triggers to change Frogfucius's dialogue, but I couldn't find it. So I gave up after a while.
  • Super Metroid - I honestly don't care about Metroid games. Go ahead, shoot me.
  • Wario's Woods - My 8 year old self couldn't figure out how to play this.
  • Xardion - My 8 year old self couldn't figure out how to play this.

SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis, CD, 32x)

Beaten (MD)

  • Shining Force: The Legacy of Great Intention - I bought a "SEGA Smash Pack" CD for the PC a long time ago. Probably around 2002-2003. It was cheap and on the clearance rack. I played this game over and over again and never touched any of the other games. I still play it sometimes.
  • Shining Force II: The Ancient Seal - I didn't find out about this game until a few years later. I played it. I should like it more than the original, but the original had a certain charm that this one is missing.

Nintendo GameBoy

Never owned one. Looking back, I still can't believe how successful this thing was.

Beaten (GB)

  • Pokémon Red and Blue - I played it mostly secondhand (and a few ROM hacks).
  • Pokémon Yellow - First Pokémon game I ever owned. Nobody ever wanted to trade me the unobtainables for some reason, but I played anyway for over 240 hours before starting over and then buying a Gameshark.

Played (GB)

  • Pokémon Green - I was mostly curious about the sprites. And the English translation was so bad that it was hilarious.

SEGA Dreamcast

Own (DC)

  • Sega Smash Pack 1 - I should be excited to finally own a Dreamcast but this is the only game I care enough to play at the moment.

GameBoy Advance

I played more games on this console than any other. This list will show that.

Beaten (GBA)

  • Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls - This was my first time trying either of the two original Final Fantasies. FF1 was still extremely hard, and I don't remember how I managed to beat Chaos. When I read the text of the ending, I was like "NOOOOOO!!!!" FF2 was surprisingly good. It was obviously a very advanced and deep NES game. It's a shame that developers thought it was too hard for American gamers. The postgame side story was pretty good (minus the tedious grinding).
  • Final Fantasy IV Advance - This game was too easy, even easier than the SNES version. But after beating the game, I found out about Lunar Ruins. Totally worth the 20+ hours I spent on that one dungeon.
  • Final Fantasy V Advance - More jobs! Job leveling was somewhat faster and easier. I played through the game normally and took more time to enjoy the story. I used cheats to level up all the jobs quickly so I didn't need to do much grinding. The bonus dungeon was pointless.
  • Final Fantasy VI Advance - I like the translation and new features, but I'm not sure if it's better than the original.
  • Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - This game made me think a lot. I wish I could abandon my shitty life and go live in Ivalice.
  • Harry Potter: Quidditch World Cup - It wasn't that exciting. Way too easy and all I could do was the same old Quidditch match over and over again.
  • Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories - This game is HARD. I had no idea what I was getting into when I started playing. But it was all worth it. And the stuff about memories... I still think about it all. This game leaves its mark on your heart.
  • Lufia: The Ruins of Lore - I got it for nostalgia reasons, because I played the other three Lufia games. It's a decent game but I didn't like it nearly as much as the main titles.
  • Lunar Legend - The characters were adorable.
  • Pokémon Emerald - I miss the Hoenn region. That place had everything.
  • Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen - The Sevii Islands were nice, but I didn't care much for this game. But for various reasons, Fire Red
  • Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team - I had to get red because at the time, the DS was new and there was no good emulator for it. It was a great game either way, although the second screen would have helped.
  • Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire - I played it in Japanese right when it first came out. This was the first time I was surprised by a Pokémon game and didn't know much about anything. I wasn't on the internet much before then, so I didn't follow fan speculations. And neither ROM hacking nor competitive battling were all that popular. I just followed some basic guides and tried to memorize Japanese names of some Pokémon, and played. I was a bit disappointed by not being able to go to previous regions or catch the old Pokémon, but it was a good experience overall.

  • Sword of Mana - I know it's not as good as Final Fantasy Adventure but I want to play both.

PS3

I own a first generation fattie. I got a good deal on eBay and I've been love with it ever since. Eventually I'll buy a super slim and attach a 1 TB SSD when the price comes down to a more reasonable level. And this fat one, assuming it still works, will be modded.

Watched LP (PS3)

Because I couldn't afford a PS3, I watched people doing a "Let's Play" and considered myself to be playing that game. But now I can afford one.

  • Catherine - I think this game gave me nightmares because I was watching the LP videos for a week right before I went to bed at night. And my dreams were quite unpleasant. But it's definitely a good game you should check out. But don't even think about getting a Platinum trophy unless you're a sadist. I own the game now.

Platinum (PS3)

Beaten, aspiring Platinum (PS3)

  • 初音ミク Project DIVA ƒ - Imported from Japan because the English version is so hard to find now. Definitely easier than the second game.
  • Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd - So far this is the hardest I've ever worked in a video game, and as of August 2015, I have 10 of 28 trophies left to go. This game is testing my patience and pushing me to my limits every day, and I love it that much more for it.

Own, aspiring Platinum (PS3)

Own, not aspiring Platinum (PS3)

  • Assassin's Creed III - The first game I'm playing in the series. I think there's something wrong with the disc.
  • Everybody Dance - I don't have any dance partners, let alone 10.
  • Far Cry 2 (part of Far Cry Compilation) - Never played any Far Cry game. I was interested because of Far Cry 3's endings.
  • Far Cry 3 (part of Far Cry Compilation) - The ending....
  • Gran Turismo 5 - I got this in a budle with my PS3. When I finally put it in, it installed like 40GB of data and another 50GB or so worth of software updates. I left my PS3 on overnight and it still wasn't done when I went to work the next day. And looking at the trophy list, there is no way in hell I'm going to platinum this thing. I'll just play it casually from time to time.
  • Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition - I wanted Mortal Kombat but I haven't played it since the original SNES game. I suck at fighting games and I'm going to stay a casual player.
  • Rock Band 3 - I don't really have any playmates so I can't take full advantage of this game.
  • SSX: Deadly Descents - Never played a snowboarding game before. So far I like it.

Nintendo 3DS

I have a red Nintendo 3DS XL. I got it from a guy on eBay in perfect condition for $160. I bought it originally because I wanted a cat, and the animal shelter I went to wouldn't let me adopt one because of their ridiculous rules about who can adopt. So with the several hundred dollars I had saved up, I bought a 3DS and Mario Kart 7. I loved it so much that I spent the rest of my saved money on some more 3DS games, all of which are still in my possession.

Eventually, I got a cat anyway from another person. And the rest is history.

  • My Nintendo 3DS friend code is 1950-7682-0853. Email me and ask me permission before you add me. My Friend Safari is Fire-type with Ponyta, Larvesta and Fletchinder.

Own (3DS cartridge)

I own the following games, as cartridges:

Own (3DS Virtual Console)

Own (DSiWare)

Nintendo 3DS is compatible with all DSiWare software. My only complaint is that they're resized poorly.

Own (3DS eShop)

  • Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre - I got the French version. I like museums and sadly, this is probably the closest I'll ever get to Paris for a very long time :(
  • Pokémon Bank - Massive library of little critters. For the first time in my life, I cought 'em all!

List of Virtual Console games for Nintendo 3DS (North America)

Owned (3DS cartridge)

  • Cave Story 3D - Boring, bad graphics. I don't see the appeal in this game. And the levels are so dark that I can't even play at night and see everything!
  • Myst - Worst port of Myst ever made; unplayable. Don't waste your money.
  • Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition - Not good for a fighting game. I was disappointed. But then again, I didn't have high hopes for this game anyway.

Don't Want

These are games I wanted in the past, but later reconsidered.

  • Asphalt 3D - I read the reviews...
  • Nintendogs + Cats - The three version thing is off-putting. I'd rather have one version with everything.
  • Pokédex 3D Pro - Waiting until they remake this with 6th gen Pokémon added.
  • Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed - I just played the demo. The flying thing is gimmicky and not enough to make me want this game. Nowhere near as much fun as Mario Kart 7. Also, the graphics suck by 3DS standards.
  • Steel Diver - It doesn't seem worth it, especially when the sequel is free to play.
  • Yoshi's New Island - It's crap. Seriously. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. It's nowhere near as good as the original SNES version. Unfortunately, that's not going to be in the 3DS Virtual Console :(

This will be my longest category someday.
