Overdrive is a NWOBHM rock band formed in 1977. Based in Grantham Lincolnshire, they started rehearsal at The Youth Hostel on Dudley Road. The founder members are Tracey Abbott on lead guitar, Neil Streets singer and Ian Hamilton on electric bass and vocal. Phil Pick was (and still is) the sound engineer.

History. The original line up also included Mark Fitt on drums and Paul Garner (brother of actor "poison Pearce"; Michael Garner)on 2nd guitar. In 1979 Tracey and Ian were joined by Steve Farmer (vocal) and Ian "Scratch" Padget (drums). In 1981 Tracey's mother, Hilda and Ian's father, Harry, were managing the band and resourced the debut single. 3 tracks; On The Run, Nightmare and Stonehenge. Recorded at Wragby, Lincolnshire, it was produced by Rick Woolgar. Leeds Music published the single. It was on the BBC play list of Tommy Vance and John Peel, who played the B side Nightmare and said he liked the name of the independent record label "Boring Grantham Records", owned by Overdrive.

First album. 1990. 12 inch vinyl. Title: Dishonest Words. Track list: Greasy Boyfriend, If Only, All dogs have their day, The bed with broken springs, Wisdom and Faith, Play it hard, Diamonds and pearls, Dishonest words. Line up: Tracey Abbott lead guitar, Ian Hamilton Vocals, Phil Blankley and Roger McKown Bass, Scratch Padget and Droop Mulhall on drums. Bob Bonnifed added additional guitar. Produced by Graham and Eddie Royce at GEMS studios, Frampton, Lincolnshire. Album cover celebrated a cartoon of Mrs Thatcher complete with Hitler moustache surrounded by the appropriate words "dishonest words". The art work was by Grantham born Tony Wright.

Second album. 1994. audio cassette Title: Home sweet home, a day in the life of Overdrive. Track list: Wreckless necklace, Kill or cure, The big tree, Land of the giants, Daddy's little girl, The chauffeur, Blinkered in love, Home sweet home. Line Up: Tracey Abbott lead guitar, Ian Hamilton Vocals, Roger McKown bass, Reuben Page guitar, Richard Parish drums. Recorded live in one day at GEMS studios, Frampton, Lincolnshire. Produced by Graham and Eddie Royce. The cover shows baby Reuben Page with his two sisters and brother Matthew.

Third album. 2005 Title: On Wizard Ridge. Track list: In the presence of heroes, Nightmare, Nuclear bomb, Once in a dream, Overdrive, On the run, Pieball pinto, Louis IX, Rules of the inn, All day, Stonehenge, On wizard ridge. Line up: Tracey Abbott guitar, Scratch Padget drums, Steve Farmer bass and vocals, Mr Scullthorpe Keyboards. Recorded at Raw Turnip Studios, Grantham, UK.

Fourth album. 2006 Title: Three corners to nowhere Track list: Continuum, Three corners to nowhere, Blaze of bronze, Diamonds and pearls, Cry out Vesuvius, Lost song of a lonely man, Marshall law, Trapped in time, I can feel it. line up: Tracey Abbott guitar, Steve Farmer bass and vocal, Scratch drums, Tim Hall keyboards.
