Kentisbeare is a parish and village in the District of Mid Devon with a population of around 1000

The parish is administratively paired with that of Blackborough, its eastern neighbour. Blackborough perches on the western extremity of the Blackdown Hills at around 260 metres above sea level and is visible for many miles around. From Blackborough the land slopes down to the hamlets of Sainthill, Stowford Water and Orway and then more gently to Kentisbeare and on west to the edges of the Culm Valley. The area is drained by a brook known locally as the Ken.

The village of Kentisbeare (Kenta's wood) is centred around a triangle of land ironically called 'The Square'. Here are the Post Office/village shop and the [Wyndham Arms][1]. The local Primary School is 50 meters away in Fore Street. The parish church dedicated to St Mary dates from 1259 although probably sits on an earlier foundation. The churchyard contains three ancient yews.

Behind the church sits the modern and well used village hall.

Many of the old farmhouses in the village itself are now private houses and several small developments of new houses sit amongst older cob and thatch dwellings.
