Benson Zhang, also known as Benson, (Chinese: 張棟梁) is a Hong Kong radio and TV presenter. He started his career as a TV Host for Hong Kong-based Television TVB, which he joined in 2007. In 2011, Benson started out his radio career through Hong Kong-base digital radio station Phoenix URadio.
In 2015, Benson joined Billboard Hong Kong office and became as a general manager of Billboard Radio China. Apart from radio and TV hosting, Benson is also an on-site emcee, producer, voice-over talent and has done quite a few talk shows and career talks for young people.
Benson is trilingual in English , Mandarin, and Cantonese. He is currently learning fourth language, Spanish at Madrid. In 2023, Benson obtained his master degree of Global entertainment and music business at Berklee College of Music in Valencia Campus.
Experience
Benson studied in Journalism at School of Communication, Hong Kong Baptist University. During his last year of study, he exchanged to Taiwan Chengchi University. In Taiwan, Benson worked as an assistant to Taiwan famous TV celebrity Sisy Chen. He also studied stage performance under the tutelage of Taiwanese director Wang Shaudi. In June 2007, he returned to Hong Kong and took part in the hosting audition held by Hong Kong's TVB, "Open Your Eyes, Break into the Entertainment World". He was selected from more than 1,000 candidates and successfully signed a contract with TVB as a Mandarin host of TVB's Entertainment News Channel.
In August 2009, Benson represented TVB to perform waltz in China version of "Dancing With the Stars" on China Dragon Television in Shanghai. 2011, Benson obtained a Master's Degree in Mass Communication from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and left TVB in 2011 to join Phoenix Uradio, a new digital radio station under Phoenix Satellite Television, where Benson is a successfully contracted DJ and hosts the evening talk show "[benfan.com]", celebrity interviews "[Benson's Talk]", the food and travel program "Big Ben Life Show".
In August 2015, he left Phoenix URadio to join Billboard as the Assistant Program Director and China Program Director of Billboard Radio China, the first music radio station in Asia. In 2017, he was promoted to program director of billboard radio china, and in June 2018, he led Billboard Radio to enter the mainland China market, announcing the establishment of Asia's first Billboard FM: Billboard Radio Chengdu FM 105.1, which is the first "Billboard"radio station in Chengdu. Meanwhile he was promoted to General Manager of the company.
In 2020, Benson became a part of Google's YouTube Music launching team, where he played a key role in the launch of YouTube Music in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
In 2023, he graduated from Berklee College of Music (Valencia campus) with a Master's Degree in Global Entertainment and Music Business Management.
