The Kelstone is a musical instrument in the chordophone created by Jan Van Kelst in Duffel, Belgium.
The instrument is a string instrument with 9 strings laid across a fingerboard. The standard recommended tuning is in intervals of fourths.[1] Usually, this tuning is B-E-A-D-G-C-F-Bb-Eb. [2] The fretboard has 26 strings.
The Kelstone has a very wide range of sound, over 5 octaves.[3] The positioning of the hands on the top of the strings allows for a piano-like playstyle, with the musical opportunities to use string-based techniques like strumming, picking, bending, hammer-on, pull-off and Glissando.Cite error: The <ref>
