Depop is a peer-to-peer social shopping app based in London, UK, with additional offices in Milan and New York.[1]

History

Depop was founded in 2011 by creative entrepreneur Simon Beckerman at H-Farm, an Italian technological incubator and business start-up centre.[2] Its headquarters moved to London in 2012.[3] Beckerman raised €1 million in funding in October 2013 from Red Circle Investment.[4] In 2015, Depop secured another investment of $8 million from Balderton Capital and Holtzbrinch Ventures.[5] 

Business

Depop provides a millenial-friendly mobile marketplace that enables individuals to buy and sell their items on iOS and Android platforms.[6] The app is home to influential trendsetters and both emerging and established creatives from fashion, design, music, sport and photography, including Chiara Ferragni[7], Lele Pons[8], Shaq[9], and Melanie Martinez[10]. To date, Depop has been downloaded over X million times with tens of millions of items bought and sold. It was announced in May 2016 that Depop is the official app sponsor of the 2016 Vans Warped Tour.[11]
