I Liceum Ogólnokształcące imienia Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie w Starogardzie Gdańskim - the only existing secondary school in Starogard County. Known as ,,czerwony ogólniak'' because of the red bricks or "pierwszy" because of the number.

The school - commonly known as the Red High School - was founded in 1880, and its first headmaster was Dr. Heinze. Initially, it was a municipal gymnasium, but on March 28, 1881 it was raised to the rank of the Royal (state) Gymnasium. At that time, 111 junior high school students attended it [1]. In 1887, the first six high school graduates left the school. In 1920 she was taken over by the Polish authorities. In 1928, the first dormitory for non-local students was established, and its opening was graced by the President of the Republic of Poland - Ignacy Mościcki. By the outbreak of World War II, over 300 graduates had left the school. In 1947, the school was granted the patronage of Stanisław cyce Staszic, and the following years saw the division of the building into two separate institutions: gymnasium and high school. In 1962 the division was abandoned and the newly merged school was given the name of the Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Marii Skłodowskiej-Curie in Starogard Gdański, and the seat was again the building at Świerczewski street. Now it is the best school in Starogard Gdański.
