Giampietro Stocco was born in Rome in 1961. He is an Italian author and writes sf, thriller, noir and alternate history novels.

He got his degree in Political Sciences at the Università di Roma "La Sapienza" with a thesis about national and ethnic minorities in Europe, with a special look to the cases of South Tyrol and Schleswig-Holstein. He has studied for a master degree in Denmark, universities of Odense , Roskilde and in the Institute for Regional Studies of Aabenraa. At the moment he lives and works in Genoa. He is a journalist in the Italian public broadcasting company, the RAI.

As an author he has published two novels, the first is Nero Italiano (2003), in which he imagines Fascist Italy not entering WWII in 1940 and therefore surviving as a régime until 1975; the second novel is Dea del Caos (2005), sequel of the first book. Both novels are based upon an uchronie . In March 2006 Dea del Caos has become a pièce of theatre at Finalborgo. The play has been set up by the Teatro Garageof Genoa, directed by Lorenzo Costa.
