Fumitaka Furuoka is Associate Professor in the School of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2002. He is the author of numerous publications in the field of development economics and Japanese studies, including New Challenges for Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA) Policy: Human Rights, Democracy and Aid Sanctions (Penerbit UMS, 2006).
