Lovella Basibas Añover-Lianko (born February 21, 1976), professionally known as Love Añover, is a Filipina television host and news presenter. She is best known for hosting various segments in the GMA Network morning show, Unang Hirit. Añover also hosted several other shows on GMA including Lovely Day.

She is currently a talent of Net 25 and hosts the show Love, Tonipet, & Everythaaang with co-host Tonipet Gaba.

Early life and education

Añover was born and raised in Alangalang, Leyte by her parents, Jose and Lydia Añover. She moved to Manila when she was in high school and graduated college with a degree in Filipino with a minor in Mass Communication at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

In 2003, her life story was featured in the drama anthology show Magpakailanman, where it was revealed that she experienced working in a wet market as a child in Leyte and moved to Manila after an opportunity when her mother worked as a bus conductor. Some of their struggles highlighted on the show were the recruitment fraud which affected her father's plan to work overseas in Saudi Arabia and the bullying she received from her classmates when she transferred to the city. Añover was also sent by her mother to live with her aunt who offered to support her education, which didn't last long until she decided to return home due to mistreatment.

In an article published by The Philippine Star, Añover stated that she grew up poor and shared how she woke up once in the middle of the night, soaked in floodwater and experienced eviction while their family was short of money; fortunately, someone let them stay in a room for free. She expressed her belief that education would help her family out of poverty and told how her parents entered various jobs, such as accepting laundry work, driving a tricycle, and working in construction, to get her through college. Together with her siblings, they also sold rags on the road, and plastics in the market to help their family.

Añover shared in another interview that she never dreamed to be on TV, growing up; and her highest aspiration was to work as a saleslady in a major shopping mall, knowing that most of them are only high school graduates. It all changed when she was able to go to college and considered becoming a domestic helper abroad after noticing how the people she knew were able to build their own houses and also buy household appliances. She also shared that she postponed her studies for a year to work before starting college.

Career

GMA Network

Internship and The Probe Team

Añover's career started when she did her internship at The Probe Team on GMA Network for two months. Her friend and schoolmate—now actor and comedian—Betong Sumaya, suggested that she apply there for her on-the-job training (OJT). Before she graduated, she was already hired in 1997 and began as a production assistant for the show. She soon became an editor, a writer, a reporter; and eventually, a senior producer. In 1999, Añover was discovered as a potential segment host by journalist Twink Macaraig at a Christmas party, held by Probe Productions, where she was an emcee. In 2000, the The Probe Team segment "Pasakalye" started where Añover was usually seen carrying a large blimp microphone and performing man-on-the-street interviews, which became her first signature act on television.

Due to GMA Network's refusal to air a controversial episode of The Probe Team in 2003, Añover remained with GMA as the show moved to ABC since she was still a talent of the network.

Unang Hirit

(2001 transfer) In 2002, Añover formally joined the morning show Unang Hirit, along with then sports commentator TJ Manotoc, and newscaster Daniel Razon. She initially served as the show's weather presenter and traffic reporter (when?), earning her nickname "Reyna ng Kalsada" (transl. Queen of the Road). Throughout the years, Añover gradually shifted to covering events, such as festivals; reporting market prices, and presenting cooking segments.
