Chief Warrant Officer 2 Barnes was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 25, 1979 to Towanda Goode and Stanly Barnes. He is the brother of Reginald Peake-Goode, Tyesha Robinson and the deceased Stanley Barnes Jr. (Jenerod). Ferman has a host of god-brother to include his older brother Robert “Wookie” Smith, Tyshawn Brooks, and Prentiss Burroughs. His closest relatives include but are not limited to Catherine Goode (grandma), and Cousins Nathaniel Mason, Melvin and Charles Scott. Ferman dedicates his life time achievements to the urban upbringings of his mother, father, god-father Noel Robinson and uncle Alvin Fitzgerald.


Chief Warrant Officer 2 Ferman C. Barnes joined the Army January 22nd, 1998. He conducted his Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he was awarded the MOS 13F.


  Chief Warrant Officer 2 Barnes served in a variety of positions to include; Target Acquisition Specialist, COLT Team Sergeant, Company Fire Support Sergeant, COLT Platoon Sergeant, Assistant Battalion Fire Support Sergeant, Battalion Fire Support NCOIC, and Battalion Operations NCOIC, Target Acquisition Platoon Leader, Commander of HHB 2-3 FA, 1/1 AD Targeting Officer, and 1/1 AD Fire Support Coordinator. He is currently serving as the 1st Armor Division FAIO.


  His previous assignments include; Charlie Battery 25th FA (TAB) at Baumholder Germany, Delta Battery 1st BN, 94th FA (MLRS) at Idar Oberstein Germany, HHB 1st BN, 41st FA at Fort Stewart, GA. and HHC 2nd BN , 7th IN at Fort Stewart, GA. His operational deployments include; Operation Joint Forge (Bosnia), Operation Joint Guardian (Kosovo), Operation Iraqi Freedom I, Operation Iraqi Freedom III, and Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08.


  CW2 Barnes’ military education and accomplishments includes; graduate of the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non Commissioned Officers Course, Equal Opportunity Representative Course, Advance Non-Commissioned Officers Course , Warrant Officer Candidate Course, Warrant Officer Basic Course, Army Combative Course (level 1)and a host of various perspective targeting courses. He is currently a student at Columbia Southern University where he is pursuing a BSBA Concentration in Project Management.


  Warrant Officer Barnes’ awards include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (AWD 3), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal (1 Bronze Star), Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon(AWD 2), NATO Medal (AWD 2) and the Combat Action Badge.


  Chief Barnes resides in Ft. Bliss, Texas with his lovely wife and best friend Erica and their four adorable sons Devon, Jermiah, Corey & Malachi.
