Internet Killed Television is a web series staring Charles Trippy. For the first 5 years Charles's ex-wife Alli Speed, also appeared in the vlogs [3][4] which followed the daily events of their lives through their courtship, marriage, and divorce.

Since their separation and subsequent divorce the show now follows the life of Charles Trippy as he goes about his daily life. The Show has also since September 2013 followed Trippy's battle against brain cancer. A video of the surgery to remove the tumor was uploaded to Youtube and has received more than 2.3 million hits.[5]

The show consists of episodes averaging around ten minutes that are filmed, edited, and then air on YouTube every day. The series was originally planned to last for only one year, however, after the success of the first season, he decided to continue. After four years, the show entered the Guinness Book of Records for the most consecutive daily video blogs posted on YouTube (1565 at the time).[6] On May 1, 2014 the show entered its sixth consecutive year.[2]

Cast

The series stars Charles Trippy and Allie Wesenberg. Trippy's ex-wife Alli Speed also appeared in the series from May 1, 2009 to April 6, 2014. Besides Trippy and Wesenberg the vlogs also feature appearances by friends, family members and Trippy's fellow band members. Trippy's dogs Zoey and Marley also appear.

Current

Charles Paul Trippy III (born September 2, 1984) in Sarasota, Florida and raised in the neighboring city of Bradenton, Florida. He attended Lakewood Ranch High School and graduated from the University of South Florida. He started making videos on YouTube in May 2006. He has also taken part in several other web series and ongoing vlog series such as: ShayTards, Prank House, Shoot the Banker, The Elevator Show, Retarded Policeman (Epidode 15), PrankvsPrank", "YouTubers React, and The Annoying Orange, in which he plays a lemon in one episode and a potato in another.[7] His father, Charles "Chaz" Trippy, played percussion in the Gregg Allman Band.[8] In 2010, Trippy was nominated for a Teen Choice award.[9] He was also the bassist in a band called Suspense Thriller.[10] On September 21, 2011, Trippy started standing in as the bass player for the Bradenton, Florida based band We The Kings, who's members he has been friends with since childhood. Later on March 11, 2012 Trippy announced in a live show that he had become the permanent bassist of the band. On February 23, 2012 Trippy had his first seizure which helped doctors learn of the brain tumor located the frontal lobe of his brain, which Trippy announced the following day. The following month on March 6, 2012 Trippy underwent surgery where doctors successfully removed 98% of the tumor.

Allie Marie Wesenberg (born March 3, 1987) (at first nicknamed Squiggles) is Charles' current girlfriend. Allie has been involved in the series since May 2014 but only appeared as static lines on screen. She first appeared in the vlogs unaltered on June 23, 2014. Since starting her involvement she now also vlogs.

Former

Allison "Alli" Rose Speed was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Sarasota, Florida. Speed graduated from The NewGate School, a private Montessori school, in 2007. She graduated from Florida State University on April 29, 2011, where she majored in Spanish and studied abroad in Valencia, Spain for part of her degree. Following the announcement on April 7, 2014 of their separation, she ceased her involvement with the CTFxC channel. But has continued to upload content to her personal channel.[11]

Production

The show is currently shot with a Canon PowerShot ELPH 340 HS,[12] and sometimes a Canon EOS 70D or an iPhone 5S when the digital cameras are not available. They also occasionally film using a GoPro. Trippy has also used a Flip UltraHD camcorder, Canon ELPH model's Powershot D780IS, Powershot SD4500IS, ELPH Powershot 300 HS, ELPH Powershot 110 IS, ELPH Powershot 330 HS,[13] and older models of the iPhone. The series is edited using Apple's Final Cut Pro 7 on a MacBook Pro. Charlie Puth composed the show's early theme songs, and viewers have contributed their own versions. YouTube musicians Dubble Kick Rick and TeraBite have also created the most commonly used theme. The theme song currently features an instrumental collaboration of Travis Clark of We The Kings and TeraBrite. The theme song has changed several times- including one to celebrate the wedding of Charles Trippy to Alli Speed. The show also employs a 'title card', which others have contributed to the show (usually featuring the show's logo), that plays at the beginning of each episode. As of June 27, 2014, there has been a combined total of 1,460,050 subscribers and 571,708,440 views.[14]

In addition to the CTFxC channel, Trippy and Speed had created a number of other YouTube channels. The vlogging started on the channel Charles which was created on July 21, 2005 and discontinued on November 20, 2009. Soclcrisis was Trippy's second channel, created October 13, 2005. The last video uploaded to this channel was on August 5, 2008.[15] The channel Trippywas created December 9, 2005, is where he posts short unedited videos shot on his iPhone. CharlesTrippy was created May 22, 2006, is his skit channel. It has 889,990 subscribers as of May 6, 2014.[16] Alli is Speed's personal channel which hosts make up tutorials, travel vlogs, a series 'Ask Alli' and the series Drunk Gaming, where she and friends and family would play video games whilst intoxicated. This was also the channel in which the short lived CTFxC Cinema series was posted to help promote their sponsor, Netflix.

Guinness World Record

The CTFxC Channel currently holds the world record for the most consecutive number of video blogs (Vlogs) uploaded to YouTube.[6]

Coverage

The couple's wedding proposal was included in the Huffington Post list of top 10 wedding proposals.[17]

On Sunday, November 20, 2011, Trippy and Speed were married at the Powell Crosley Estate, Sarasota, Florida.[18] The montage video was produced by ApprenticeEh and directed by Corey Vidal. The vlog produced on the wedding day is 34 minutes. The Twitter hashtag "#CTFxCWedding" was trending worldwide on this day as second most popular Trending Topic.[19] This wedding appeared on many talk shows and news outlets, including Right This Minute.[20] On April 7, 2014, Trippy posted a vlog announcing that the couple would be separating after being together for over five years.[21] The post had received 812,000 hits by April 9.[5] The couples divorce was finalized on June 4, 2014 ending their marriage after two years.

Since September 2013 the series has followed Trippy's treatment and surgery for brain cancer with the video of the surgery receiving more than 2.3 million hits.[5]
