The WAIS Warriors were an Australian basketball team based in Perth, Western Australia. The Warriors competed in the Men's State Basketball League (SBL) and played their home games at Perth Superdrome and the University of Western Australia.
Club history
Background
In 1987, basketball was accepted into the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS). A men's team played in the Perth A Grade competition in 1987 and 1988 as the WAIS Junior Wildcats.[1]
SBL
1989 saw the formation of the State Basketball League (SBL) with both a men's and women's competition. The WAIS men's team, known as the Warriors, entered the SBL for its inaugural season.[2]
The Warriors played in the first three seasons of the SBL under coach Warren Kuhn, amassing six wins in 1989 before earning two wins in 1990 and going winless in 1991.[2]
