• June 2011 - Arizona fire (largely known as the Wallow Fire) burned over 841 square miles, and was "upgraded" to largest fire in Arizona history.
• June 2011: Volcano erupted in Chile after 50 years and some other fires that occurred during that time.[9]
• Also the war situation worsens in Afghanistan and extends to Libya, Syria, and the civil war in Egypt and nearby countries.
• The Mississippi River floods in April and May 2011 were among the largest and most damaging recorded along the U.S. waterway in the past century, comparable in extent to the major floods of 1927 and 1993.
