Matthew John Mungo Sr. (born July 22, 1984 in Anaheim Hills, California) is an American college scholar athlete wreslter. He was named NCAA Division II all-academic in 2009.

Mungo is an accomplished wrestler with an extensive background in wrestling. He has accomplished several academic awards and is considered three-time scholar athlete while attending San Francisco State University and Santa Ana College.

Mungo is also a former United States Marine Corps veteran, a talented musician, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu student, a renowned cameraman, and a skater.

Early years

Matthew John Mungo, Sr. was born on July 22, 1984 in Anaheim Hills, California at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. He is the son of Helen Fox and John Vito Mungo, and a sibling to Jimmy Mungo and half brother Brandon Mungo. At the age of 3, Mungo set fire to a broom and chased his brother, Jimmy Mungo, around the house.

He attended Linda Vista Elementary School in Mission Viejo, CA and was in Mrs. Goggin's class. He has excelled into a three-time scholar athlete at Santa Ana college and a one-time scholar athlete at San Francisco State University (technically a two-time scholar athlete, but due to SFSU technicalities, he was only named a one-time scholar athlete).

At the age of 10, his mother remarried an odious man, Glenn Mcgoogen. Mungo ran away from home at the age of 17 and lived with Nick Dustin and his family for the majority of twelfth grade. During his life away from home, he began his musical career and learned how to play the guitar. He has continued to excel in music and has also learned how to play other instruments such as bass guitar, drums, djembe, and piano.

United State Marine Corps

In 2002, Mungo enlisted in the United State Marine Corps reserve at the age of 18. He served as a Motor Transport Vehicle Operator while attending Santa Ana College and San Francisco State University. Mungo was stationed in several Marine bases such as Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California and Marine Corps Detachment, Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. He was also stationed in [[Djibouti], Africa, where he was on duty for six months. When he transferred to San Francisco State University in August 2007, he remained stationed at Camp Pendleton, and managed to serve his duty by driving from San Francisco to Camp Pendleton. once a month. Mungo was ranked as a Sergeant and served his contract of six years, which ended December 2008.

College Career

After enlisting in the Marines, in August 2003, Mungo enrolled as a full-time student at Santa Ana College where he attained his Associates degree in liberal arts and general science. Mungo also took on the responsibility of being on the Santa Ana College wrestling team. After graduating at Santa Ana, he enrolled at San Francisco State University in August 2007 as a Marine Biology major, where he continued his wrestling career as an SFSU wrestler. In May 2010. he graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with a concentration in Marine Biology and Limnology.

On his spare time, Mungo is a skater, a film buff, and a cameraman. Mungo also ran track and played baseball in highschool.
