The Beretta RS202, is an italian combat shotgun manufactured by Beretta in the 80s for military or civilian use.
Technical features
The RS202 shoots 12 gauge cartidges. Generally, 2.75-inch cartridges are used, but 3-inch Magnum cartridges can also be used. The action mechanism of the pump allows you to fire low power shots, such as non-lethal blows generally used by the police to put down riots
Design
The tubular magazine contains 7 rounds, plus one in the chamber. The civil models have a longer barrel and a 6-round magazine plus one in the chamber. Given its nature, this smooth-bore shotgun is capable of hitting targets at a distance not exceeding 40-45 meters. This shotgun is extremely light and ergonomic, the military variant is equipped with a folding stock, which makes it perfect for close-range combat.
Military use
The main (and perhaps the only) user is the Italian army. According to some testimonies of Italian soldiers, this shotgun has proven to be extremely reliable in close-quarters (even more than the Franchi spas 15). In fact, this weapon made its first debut in the operational theater during the Battle of Mogadishu in the 90s and immediately earned the trust of the Italian military. This shotgun was also effectively used during the Gulf War.
