Stefan Angelov Draganov nicknamed Chonata (Bulgarian: Стефан Ангелов Драганов - Чоната) (born 13 August 1966), is a retired Bulgarian footballer. In his career, he played for Lokomotiv Plovdiv, Botev Plovdiv, CSKA Sofia, Instant-Dict, Leixões S.C. During that time he played as a forward and scored 112 goals in 350 games. Currently he is the director of coaching at Thunder Soccer Club, and is head coach of Howard Community College.

Playing Career

Draganov was born in Plovdiv, and trained with the youth team of Lokomotiv Plovdiv. At age 16 he made his senior team debut playing in the Bulgarian top division. He spent 9 years with the club before moving to CSKA Sofia. At the Sofia club Stefan won the Bulgarian Championship in 1992 and the Bulgarian Cup in 1993. In 1994 Draganov returned to Plovdiv to sign with Botev Plovdiv. He finished 3rd in the league for two years in a row. He returned to Lokomotiv for two seasons, before moving abroad to Hong Kong to play for Instant-Dict. Stefan won two championships and one f.a. cup for the club. He continued to Portugal to play for Leixões S.C. for a brief spell which saw him finish out his playing career.

Managerial Career

In 2000 he became the executive director of Lokomotiv Plovdiv. That season the team was struggling in the second division and Stefan took over head coaching duties with the team sitting in the relegation zone. Stefan finished the season in fourth place. In 2001, Draganov moved to the United States and got involved with youth development at Thunder Soccer Club.
