St John Scotland is a volunteer-led, charitable organisation that exists to provide community response and patient transport to people in Scotland. Along with its affiliate organisations St John Ambulance Cymru, St John Ambulance (England) and St John Ambulance Northern Ireland, makes up the United Kingdom affiliates of the the St John Ambulance movement.
History
St John Scotland was formed in 1947, by The Order of St John who decided to resume the work of the Order in Scotland.[3] They had a pre-existing agreement not to compete with St Andrew's First Aid which led to St John Scotland to be more flexible in its approach than the other St John organisations.[3]
