Hello World.

Although I am an academic (I hold a PhD in a STEM field), I am much more interested in the history of academia (and history in general) than academics itself. That is not to say that I have no respect for academia; on the contrary, I have tremendous respect for the academics who are obsessed with understanding the world and improving how it operates. Unfortunately, I have found that many academics are more focused on increasing the number of publications and citations through ethically questionable practices including blatant self-citations, bullying papers they review to cite their papers, and focusing on "least publishable units" when conducting a study. What is even more unfortunate is that such behavior is frequently rewarded with prestige and recognition.

I have decided to make this Wikipedia account in an effort to bring to light the excellent academics who have devoted their lives to understanding the world and improving how it operates - the unsung heroes who have driven and continue to drive innovation.

Despite my username, I do not speak Arabic. It is a play on my real name.
