Early life and training
Kornegay was born in Olive, North Carolina and received a bachelor of science degree from North Carolina College for Negroes in 1935 and Masters (1941) and Ph.D (1972) degrees from the University of Michigan.
Detroit Urban League
He was director of the Detroit Urban League from 1960 to 1978.
Honors and awards
Kornegay is a recipient of the Detroit Urban League's Urban Warriers award (1981) and three honorary doctorates.
