The Gateway of the Fallen is the first the epic series The Empyrean Chronicles by the American author R. William Aezeron. It takes place during the Middle Ages and deals with a conflict between two ancient factions (The Hierarchy and The Fallen) that exercise control over the Earth, or Terra Medius as it is known to them. It was originally published on November 12, 2008 in the United States. The volume consists of a Prologue followed by twenty-six chapters.
