The Rock Creek Free Press is an alternative, monthly newspaper published in Washington, DC.

History

The Rock Creek Free Press was founded in Washington, DC in 2007. The first issue was dated January, 23, 2007 and was distributed at a large anti-war rally that day on the National Mall. The paper managed to publish only 5 issues in 2007 but began publishing monthly in December of that year. In 2008 The Rock Creek Free Press received a Project Censored award for publishing one of the 25 most censored stories of 2008.

Content and format

The Creek, as an alternative paper, is more focused on commentary and historical context than the reporting of day to day, or week to week events. It's editorial content can best be described as "anti-fascist." The paper's self stated mission is to cover the stories the Corporate-controlled media refuse to cover. The Creek frequently publishes stories regarding 'conspiracies' both current and historic. Topics covered include, the JFK Assassination, the RFK assassination, the MLK assassination, the Gulf of Tonkin, Operation Gladio, 9/11 and other examples of False flag Terrorism.

Format

Published every month as a large format broadsheet, usually 8 pages, the paper contains an average of 20 articles per issue. Regular features include articles about corporate media propaganda, historical examples relevant to today

Circulation

The paper's circulation, of approximately 20,000 readers, makes the Creek a mid-sized independent newspaper. Most of the papers printed, over 13,000, are distributed free in and around Washington, DC. Publication of the paper is supported by the nearly 1,000 mail subscribers spread out throughout the country.[1]
