Saba Abkar is a neighborhood of northern Baghdad, located within Adhamiyah's juridical district which is part of Rusafa Side.

Etymology

The neighborhood name was Saba Abkar Halil Pash, named after Halil Kut the governor of the Baghdad, who got himself a palace built there upon his arrival in 1915, and he took it as Holiday cottage, the name was changed into Saba Abkar which indicates a Sakia that was constructed there along with the palace. the neighborhood has two names: the old is Saba Abkar, according to Land registration, and the new is Al Rabee according to the municipality, both names are used interchangeably, though Saba Abkar extends to larger area than Al Rabee.

Establishment

in the 1940s the neighborhood was established as a modern Residential area, though there was no pavement, the area was originally farms in which farmers and there families live.
