Career highlights

Jack Riewoldt is a professional Australian rules footballer currently playing with the Richmond in the Australian Football League.

Early life

Jack Riewoldt, cousin of Nick Riewoldt and eldest of three brothers Alex and Anthony Riewoldt was born in Tasmania where he was raised.

Riewoldt worked at retailer Sportsco [citation needed] and played junior football for the Tassie Mariners in the TAC Cup and his local team was Clarence in Tasmania's SFL. He wore the number seven guernsey and was a part of Clarence's premiership win in 2006. In the second Semi Final of that year, against arch-rivals Glenorchy at KGV Oval, Riewoldt kicked an incredible 80 metre torpedo punt through for a goal on the three quarter time siren.

2007–present: Australian Football League (AFL) career

Riewoldt was selected by the Richmond Football Club at 13th pick in the 2006 AFL Draft, highly rated by the Tigers as a key forward prospect.

In round sixteen 2009, Jack kicked 6 goals to help Richmond to down Essendon.

Riewoldt's confidence grew in 2010 and he kicked a career best 10 goals in Round 12, 13 June 2010 against the West Coast Eagles. The haul included 5 first-quarter goals, with 4 of them in just 10 minutes, making it one of the best Richmond returns in a single quarter. He became the first player to kick 10 goals since 2007 (and the first Richmond player since Matthew Richardson in 2004). Riewoldt joins Jonathan Brown, Stephen Milne and Mark Lecras as the only current AFL players to have recorded a double figure goal tally in a game.

As of Round 21, 2010, Riewoldt is leading the Coleman Medal tally for most goals in the season with 75 goals.

In Round 21 2010, Jack won the Ian Stewart medal against St.Kilda for his amazing performance, kicking 7 goals.

Comments – Article looks good. Queries jotted down below.

  • After a two-year break from baseball because of World War I..."—Previous sentence starts with after, so can you perhaps tweak?
  • "He had a rare start on June 1 against the White Sox, scoring a run."—What does this mean? A rare start? Sorry I know nothing about baseball.
  • "...in the seventh inning..."—Obviously not innings as with cricket?
