Austin Arbelaez (born 2 May 2010)[2] is an American musician and social media celebrity. He is best known for his drumming skills, performing covers of popular rock songs which had drawn the attention of several musicians including Ray Luzier, Korn, Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda, Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, Slipknot (band), Josh Devine, Megadeth, Imagine Dragons, Disturbed (band), The Killers, System of a Down, P.O.D., The Offspring, Soundgarden, Blink182, Gojira (band), Rise Against, Metallica, Godsmack, Chevelle (band), Papa Roach, Five Finger Death Punch, Tommy Vext, Sepultra, and Journey (band).

Early life

Arbelaez was born in Arlington, Texas USA of Colombian-Mexican descent.[1][3] His family recently moved to Aledo, Texas, where he currently lives with his parents David and Mindy and his younger sister, Audrey. His parents are both fans of music, and when he was the age of one, he received his first drum set for Christmas. Arbelaez feel in love with drums at the age of seven. A couple of years later, he had saved up enough money doing chores and saving money from gifts from birthdays and Christmas and purchased his first large drum set which happened to be made by Mapex Drums. About a year later, COVID hit and with help from his parents, he started posting videos of his covers of various songs to Instagram and other social media sites as well as performing at local music venues.[1]

Instagram career

His videos soon drew attention both online and in local media. Disturbed had seen his videos, and impressed with his ability, posted his drum cover on all of their social media platforms. Since then, there have been over 2 million views on Instagram alone and multiple artists worldwide share, like and reach out to Arbelaez. Since Christmas 2020, when Arbelaez started posting to Instagram he has recorded over 100 rock songs covers.

Arbelaez wants to continue to be a musician and start his own band, tour and play at large venues all over the world. In addition to his covers, he is writing his own songs in hopes to be able to produce a full album.

Professional career

[1][3] Arbelaez recently signed a deal with the Mapex Drum Company. The youngest drummer ever to be endorsed by the brand.[1]

One of the songs that Arbelaez covered in 2021 was Switchfoot's "Meant to Live" with friend and fellow bandmate Caroline Simpson, which he released in August 2021 on all musical platforms including iTunes, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
