Boys by Girls magazine is a bi-annual print publication, where the contemporary young man is explored from a female viewpoint. Launched in 2011 by menswear photographer Cecilie Harris, Boys by Girls Magazine aims to strike a balance between fashion, art and documentary photography.
Boys By Girls magazine is distributed worldwide and can be found in leading fashion cities including London, New York, Paris, Milan and Berlin, distributed through Pineapple Media Ltd. It is also available digitally through the Readbug app.[1] allowing users to view new and old issues on iPad and iPhone. Stockists include: Selfridges, Magma Books, Colette, The Photographers Gallery, Around The World Fashion Publications, Armani Libri, Mondadori and K Presse & Buch.[citation needed]
Details
The independent magazine thrives on an innovative approach to fashion.[citation needed] Instead of pushing the boundaries down the obscure and limit stretching fashion route, it does the exact opposite. Taking a step back and simplifying the fashion realm, the magazine focuses on the subtle details in an attempt to authenticate fashion publications.
The magazine started out as a book project, but from Issue 4, amended to a magazine format. Merging documentary with fashion photography, it puts the boys and their stories in focus, to give the young male a voice. Featuring a mix of models, talent and street cast boys, Boys by Girls provides an insight into the many different types of boy they come across.
Contributing female photographers around the globe capture boys for the magazine, with stories spanning from UK, Norway, France, Sweden, New York, Los Angeles, Bermuda, Hungary, Iceland and more. Boys by Girls have seen the journey of many a model unleashed into the fashion industry.
Boys by Girls Magazine will be releasing their tenth celebration issue in April 2016.
