Tanvi Patri (born 14 April 2011) is an Indian badminton player.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Early life
Patri was born on 14 April 2011 to Sailabala Panda and Rabinarayan Patri.[7] Both her parents are software professionals. She started playing badminton in China, where they were employed as professionals.
Career
In 2021, Patri won the senior women and girls singles titles at 6 OSBA All-Odisha Ranking Tournaments.
In 2022, Patri won both the U-15 and U-17 girls singles titles in the OSBA All-Odisha Sub-Junior Ranking Tournament. She won three titles (U-13 girls singles, doubles and mixed doubes) in the OSBA All-Odisha Mini & Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament the same year.
In 2022, she came third at the East Zone Badminton Championship. In 2024, Patri won the both the U-15 and U-17 girls singles titles in the Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub Junior (U15 & U17) Ranking Badminton Tournament.[8] She won both the U-15 and U-17 girls singles titles at the All India Sub-Junior Ranking Tournament. She won a gold medal at the 35th Sub-Junior (U-13) National Badminton Championship.[9]
Patri became the first shuttler from Odisha to win the girls singles title in the 34th Sub-junior (U-13) National Badminton Championships in 2022. She won the girls singles title in the National Sub-junior (U-13) Tanking Badminton Tournament. She finished as a runner-up at the Yonex-Sunrise All India National Sub-Junior (U-13) Ranking Badminton Tournament.
In 2024, during the German Junior International Badminton Tournament, she reached the girls singles quarterfinals. At the Dutch Junior International Badminton Tournament, she reached the second round of the girls singles.
Patri deafeated Thailand's Kungkaew Kakanik to reach the U-15 singles final at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships in 2024.[10] She defeated Vietnam’s Thi Thi Huyen Nguyen in the final to win the Asian Championships U-15 title in Chengdu.[11]
