I've removed the text from this article since Wikipedia is neither a dictionary nor an indiscriminate collection of information. I've turned it back into a redirect since Zot! is the only article to use this name. The removed text is pasted below for reference. PC78 23:25, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • "Zot!" is the sound that the anteater makes in the B.C. comic strip authored by Johnny Hart, and also the sound of a bolt of lightning in the same strip. (In the strip's early days the characters invoked an apparent thunder-god figure of that name, as when Thor exclaimed, "Great Zot! I've invented the comb!")
  • Zot was a Flash Gordon character; this use led to the word becoming a nickname for Vietnam-era laser-guided bombs.
  • ZOT is the (typed) sound of a lightning-strike from the Usenet Oracle when a supplicant annoys the deity.
  • On the discussion forum Free Republic, ZOT! is the term for banning those who sign up for the purpose of putting up troll posts. The name of the thread is changed (for example [www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-backroom/1306051/posts I'm so stupid, I signed up and got the zot]) and the forum members are then allowed to attack the zotted troll en masse. The word "Zot" was chosen as a tribute to Johnny Hart's B.C. comic strip.
  • "Zots" is a candy novelty from the 70s.
  • A zot is a small paper projectile folded over to form a "V" shape, which is then fired with a rubber band.
