Reading through the above article and more particularly the DNB article (currently being transcribed), I would disagree that this is a typical politician/parliamentarian. While he spent a small proportion of his public life in parliament, much of the remainder seems to be in more public service types role

• • clerkship of the privy council
  • envoy roles
  • servant of the crown or the lead powers of the crown (eg. Walsingham)

Majority of references for the period refer to as William WAAD, with only occasional WADE. I propose to rename to William Waad, and have a direct from William Wade. -- billinghurst (talk) 17:24, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. This page is missing a key detail about the life of Sir William Wade (Or Waad/Wadd). It was him who discovered the evidence that Mary, Queen of Scots was attempting to overthrow Queen Elizabeth. I have a reliable source as well. The Saffron Walden Historical Society says this: "It was William Waad who provided the fatal evidence that was to send Mary Queen of Scots to the scaffold for her part in the Babington Plot against Elizabeth."
